Scope:
The main aim of the course is to reduce the amount of incidents and accidents involving master-pilot not efficient bridge teamwork and information exchange. Real Pilot invites for practical exercises to create close to real situations.

After the course the participants should be able to:

  • Understand efficient bridge resource management, bridge teamwork and ship handling in narrow/shallow waters or on the port approaches under or without pilotage, in normal and emergency situations;
  • Understand proper Bridge Team including the Pilot on the Navigation bridge properly integrated/familiarized/briefed into the ship’s handling/maneuvering together with Master;
  • Understand meaning/purpose/importance of the “SOFT SKILLS” for the safe and efficient management of the Bridge Team including the Pilot;
  • Demonstrate practical skills of the Master-Pilot relations by mean of Simulator exercises.

 

Course overview:

The course covers:

  • A brief repetition of the Bridge Resource Management System
  • Ship handling and maneuvering with and without pilot:
  • in confined waters;
  • with and without tug assistance;
  • under impact of wind and current;
  • Master – Pilot rapport and communication.

Target group: Management Level Deck Officers, who have passed Bridge Team Resource management.

Duration:

4 Days. The course is a full 4 days program and attendance for the whole duration of the course is essential in order to be deemed competent.

Assessments: 
Participants will demonstrate/explain/identify their level of knowledge, skills and understanding through oral and/or written questioning and practical activities by our qualified facilitators.

Complaints and Appeals:
All trainees who find themselves deemed ”Not Yet Competent” have the right to appeal that decision. All appeals shall be directed, in writing, to the Administrator who will support your appeal process. Where participants believe that they have been treated unfairly, unruly or unjust by any member of staff whilst attending a KMSTC run course, or whilst having contact with KMSTC, they should out their concerns in writing with assistance from the administrator.

Cancellations and refunds:

Cancellation less than in 5 working days prior to the course start without a reasonable reason (providing the relevant documents: a health certificate) is subject to 100% payment of the course and accommodations fees.

Cancellation in more than 5 working days prior to the course start is free of charge.

In case of inability of completing the course in full amount, the payment will be kept in proportion to the content of the passed material.
