Kherson Maritime Specialised Training Centre KMSTC is participating in the international SMarTAI – Sustainable Maritime Transport Artificial Intelligence project, implemented under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) programme.
SMarTAI aims to support the modernisation of maritime education in Ukraine in response to the changes already shaping the global maritime industry.
Artificial intelligence, digitalisation, data analytics, new training technologies and the transition towards more sustainable shipping are transforming not only ships, equipment and shore-based systems, but also the knowledge and competences required from today’s and future maritime professionals.
Throughout the 36-month project, partners from Ukraine and the European Union will work together to:
⚓ modernise existing maritime courses and develop new educational programmes;
🤖 integrate artificial intelligence, data analytics and digital technologies into maritime education and professional training;
🌱 develop green skills and knowledge required for more sustainable and environmentally responsible maritime transport;
💻 develop modern online professional courses and digital learning resources;
🥽 support the development and implementation of VR-based maritime training exercises for practical learning;
🤝 strengthen cooperation between maritime educational institutions, training centres, researchers and the maritime industry;
🎓 create new learning and upskilling opportunities for students, educators and practising maritime professionals.
For KMSTC, participation in SMarTAI is an opportunity to combine our extensive experience in practical seafarer training with new approaches to digital, simulation-based and professional maritime education.
In our upcoming posts, we will share more about the new courses, the application of artificial intelligence in the maritime sector, green skills, VR-based training and other outcomes of SMarTAI.
We will continue to keep you updated on the project’s progress, key developments and milestones as SMarTAI moves forward.
